Field Service & Commissioning Heat Pump Engineer

Take ownership of installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting innovative heat pump systems, turning cutting-edge technology into reliable real-world solutions.

    Job description

    About BlueHeart Energy

BlueHeart Energy was founded in 2016 as a deep-tech company that has developed a new sustainable thermoacoustics technology to radically improve the performance of heat pumps, enabling them to evolve from being the best solution in the market to becoming the perfect solution. Our technology is a disruptive approach to generate heat and cold, with potential to revolutionize the whole industry.

With our so called 'Blue Heart' inside, heat pumps turn into affordable, silent and flexible devices, capable of working with wide temperature ranges suitable for both new and existing houses. Importantly, BlueHeart doesn’t require any refrigerants and doesn’t generate any CO2e emissions.

    About the Role

Join BlueHeart Energy as a Field Service & Commissioning HP Engineer and play a key role in deploying our technology at customer sites across Europe.

You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operation of our heat pump systems. Working closely with the Testing, Engineering, Controls, and R&D teams, you will ensure our units are successfully installed, tested, and handed over to customers.

This role combines hands-on technical work with project coordination and problem-solving. You will regularly travel to customer sites in countries such as Italy, Germany, Spain, and other European locations to support installations and commissioning activities.

When not deployed to customer sites, you will support our Testing Team in the laboratory by helping build, commission, and improve test benches, piping systems, instrumentation, and control setups.

    What You’ll Do

    • Perform piping, instrumentation, and mechanical integration activities

    • Support the setup and configuration of sensors, controllers, valves, pumps, and electrical components

    • Execute functional tests and performance validation of installed units

    • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and system-level issues

    • Diagnose failures and coordinate corrective actions with internal teams and external partners

    • Realization of P&IDs, installation drawings, and technical documentation

    • Support test bench assembly, commissioning, and maintenance activities in the BlueHeart laboratories

    • Contribute to continuous improvement of installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting procedures

    • Ensure all activities are performed safely and according to company standards

    What We’re Looking For

    • MBO/HBO degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

    • Hands-on experience with heat pump systems, HVAC installations, refrigeration systems, or industrial equipment

    • Strong understanding of piping systems, valves, pumps, sensors, and instrumentation

    • Ability to read and create P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation

    • Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting technical installations

    • Strong ownership and problem-solving skills

    • Comfortable working independently on customer sites

    • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders

    • Holder of a driver's license

    • Willingness to travel regularly across Europe

    • Good English skills (spoken and written)

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with industrial heat pumps or renewable energy systems

    • Experience with electrical installations

    • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced engineering environment

    What We Offer

    • Opportunity to participate in the ESOP scheme, directly linked to company value creation and individual performance.

    • 25 vacation days.

    • Hybrid work arrangement supporting autonomy and work–life balance.

    • Training opportunities to support in your personal and professional development with access to extensive training opportunities at your request.

    • Access to OpenUp, because we prioritize mental well-being.

    • Participation in our pension scheme with employer contribution.

    Interview tips

Get to know Blue Heart Energy

Before your interview, take some time to explore our career page, learn about our technology and products, and read our company values. You don’t need to become an expert: we’re interested in what caught your attention, why you’re considering BlueHeart Energy, and what you’re curious to learn more about.

Come prepared to talk about your experience

Our first conversation is usually focused on getting to know you: your career journey, motivation, experience, and what you’re looking for next. As you progress, interviews become more focused on the role and may include technical, functional, or leadership-related questions. Think about relevant examples from your experience that help us understand not only what you did, but how you approached it and what you learned.

    Use clear, concrete examples

We often use the STARR method: Situation, Task, Action, Result and Reflection, to explore your experience. Before your interview, think of a few examples that demonstrate skills relevant to the role. Be specific about your own contribution, decisions and results. Communication is also part of what we assess, particularly for roles involving collaboration or leadership, so aim to keep your answers clear and structured.

    Be curious and be yourself

An interview is a two-way conversation. Come with questions about the role, team, technology, challenges or anything else you genuinely want to understand. Our process may include both online interviews via Microsoft Teams and an onsite interview, giving you the opportunity to meet people you could be working with and experience BlueHeart Energy firsthand. Prepare well, but don’t rehearse a version of yourself, we want to meet you.
